Japanese Copper Double Prong Quick Release Belt
Japanese Copper Double Prong Quick Release Belt
Two years ago I stopped working with my foundry in England in favor of my foundry in Japan. In my pursuit to always improve the quality of my work, it was an easy decision. Japan made a better product and have proven to be far more reliable. However, while England had been making me solid copper hardware for years, copper was not a material that Japan had worked with before, and it's taken over two years to be able to bring this material to reality!
The material you love, with the craftsmanship that I deem worthy of Pigeon Tree. My patented double prong quick release is now available once again in solid copper!
Again, like the sterling silver hardware, we had to utilize an age-old casting technique called "lost wax casting" which is a fascinating method that utilizes wax to create a temporary mold, and then the wax is essentially destroyed or "lost" after a casing is formed around it and it is melted to make room for the metal to be poured in.
Due to this costly method of manufacturing, it is significantly more expensive to manufacture this hardware than the brass version. It is for this reason that the initial run is extremely limited.
The buckle and keeper are both cast in solid raw copper that I have hand polished to a dull sheen. You can count on this metal to develop a gorgeous patina over time. The hardware will be secured with my Pigeon Tree branded solid copper rivets.
You can pair any leather that is currently available on my website with this hardware, simply add your preference next to your measurement notes, or if you want to secure a belt and haven't decided on a leather yet, you can leave your leather preference blank and decide later. Pictured with green Tärnsjö. Also available exclusively with the Copper & Sterling releases is a selection of Tochigi leathers. Pictured (in order): Summer Oil Camel, Summer Oil Black, and Friese Chocolate. All weigh in at around 9-10oz.
Please follow the detailed sizing instructions here. It is normal for the measurement to be several inches larger than your waist or tagged jean size. If you have any doubts, please reach out to me with any questions.
Like all of my made to order belts, these will be made according to the queue estimate in my website banner.
Handmade to measure in Denver by one person.
